What is Pixel Laser Resurfacing?
Pixel laser resurfacing treatments can dramatically restore your skin’s appearance and reduce wrinkles and dark spots deep below the skin’s surface.
Pixel laser resurfacing, also known as fractional laser, uses the science behind micro thermal lasers that uses small pulses of intense heat to target multiple very-small areas of the skin and cause tiny fractures or ruptures below the skin’s surface. The surrounding skin goes into recovery mode and rapidly creates new collagen the heal the damaged skin, thereby smoothing the overall appearance of the skin, improve tone and texture, reduce wrinkles and UV damage, and correct pigment issues.
How Does It Help?
The tiny fractures below the skin’s surface tell the skin’s cell that an injury has been sustained, thereby kicking the body’s natural healing process into high gear! Collagen production increases and new skin cells form at an advanced rate to help “repair” the fracture. Because of the rate of fractures produced from pixel laser resurfacing, collagen production stays in this high gear for an average of six months post treatment, giving your skin a continued smoothing affect long after you leave our office.
What is Treatment Like?
With pixel laser resurfacing, your technician will have you lie down with your hair secured away from your face. A small machine will be massaged over the area. There is some discomfort with pixel laser resurfacing and a numbing cream can be applied if you wish.
After the treatment, many patients say they feel a sensation similar to a sunburn, where the skin feels very hot to the touch. For the first 24-48 hours after, the skin will be very read and it is important not to cleanse during this time! Within 3-4 days, the skin will begin to peel, with facial skin usually healing fully after five days. Skin anywhere else on the body will take longer to heal.
Keeping the skin moisturizer during this time is crucial! Your technician will discuss a custom skin routine with you for your post-treatment care.
